A House for My Parents

This project is a one bedroom home for my parents in Carlton: a home that captures their desires, their hobbies, and their characters. It is a “Hidy Tidy” home, a home where the visitor is shown an excerpt, the home experience abridged. While the ground floor acts as a public entertaining space, on the upper levels the interior and private life is expressed: a cycling and drum studio becomes an expressionist form. Here, offsets and extrusions of significant objects such as the drum kit are used as design tools to create unique spaces.
